About A-Pro Dissolved Air Flotation System

A-Pro is a dissolved air flotation (DAF) system that separates suspended solids, oil and grease from wastewater using gravity separation principles. The process works by increasing the specific gravity difference between the contaminants and water — achieved by saturating water with air under pressure and then releasing it through valves to atmospheric pressure. This creates micro air bubbles that attach to solid and oily particles, lowering their effective density and causing them to rise to the surface, where they are removed by a skimming device.

Process

A-Pro clarifies wastewater by dissolving air into the water stream under pressure and then releasing it at atmospheric pressure inside a flotation tank. The sudden pressure drop forms fine air bubbles that adhere to suspended matter — oil, grease, fats, proteins or fine solids — causing it to float to the surface. A skimming mechanism continuously removes this floated layer, while clarified water exits from the base of the tank for further treatment or discharge.

Industrial Use Cases

  • Poultry, Meat & Food Processing — Removes blood, fats, proteins, suspended solids and high organic load.
  • Dairy Processing Units — Efficient removal of FOG, milk solids and COD for stable downstream treatment.
  • Fish & Seafood Processing — Separates oil, grease, proteins and fine solids from odorous wastewater streams.
  • Mining Industry — Removes heavy metals and suspended solids, clarifying process water.
  • Petrochemical Industry — Primary oil-water separation and hydrocarbon removal from refinery effluent.
  • Textile Industry — Improves color removal, fiber recovery and effluent clarity.
  • Tanneries & Leather Processing — Removes chromium, sulfides, fats and high TSS for improved downstream treatment.
  • Pulp & Paper Industry — Recovers fibers, reduces TSS and COD, and clarifies mill effluent.

Treatment Objectives & Upgrade Applications

A-Pro is built to consistently separate oil, grease and suspended solids from wastewater before it reaches biological or secondary treatment stages, reducing the organic and solids load on downstream systems. Its high loading rate and compact footprint make it a practical primary treatment or pre-treatment upgrade for plants that need to improve solids removal without expanding physical space.

For facilities running conventional flocculation and gravity sedimentation, A-Pro offers a smaller-footprint alternative that removes the need for polymer dosing in many applications, while producing a denser, easier-to-handle float product — making it a suitable retrofit for sites looking to cut chemical dependency and improve separation efficiency without a full treatment overhaul.
