About X-Flocs Membrane Bio Reactor System (MBR)

X-Flocs is a membrane bio reactor system that treats wastewater using biological/bacterial treatment combined with membrane filtration. Raw untreated wastewater first passes through a pre-filter screen that removes larger debris and plastics before entering the X-Flocs reactor. Inside the reactor, the wastewater undergoes biological treatment, where bacteria break down organic matter. The reactor is fitted with an air diffuser to support this biological process, along with a filtration membrane with a pore size ranging from 0.06 to 0.1 micron. Because the membrane pore size is small enough to block bacteria and other contaminants, the treated water drawn from the outlet is clean and low in organic content, making it suitable for reuse or safe discharge after chlorine dosing.

Process

Wastewater entering the X-Flocs system first passes through a pre-filter screen to protect the reactor from clogging. Inside the reactor, biological treatment breaks down organic pollutants while an integrated air diffuser supports bacterial activity. The treated water is then drawn through a filtration membrane using a suction pump, with the residence time of the wastewater inside the reactor controlled by regulating the membrane's drawing rate. Since the membrane pores are smaller than bacteria and suspended solids, only clean, filtered water passes through to the outlet. Before reuse or discharge, this treated water is dosed with chlorine to meet final water quality requirements.

Inside the Hybrid Process

X-Flocs runs on two treatment mechanisms working as one system, not two separate stages bolted together.

The first is biological degradation - bacteria inside the reactor break down organic pollutants in the wastewater. The second is membrane filtration - a 0.03 to 0.2 micron membrane physically blocks suspended solids, bacteria and other contaminants from passing through.

Because the membrane itself acts as an absolute barrier, there's no need for a separate clarification stage. Biological treatment and filtration happen within the same compact unit, producing consistently clean water in a single pass.

What It's Built to Achieve

X-Flocs is designed to hold treated water quality steady, even when incoming wastewater strength fluctuates. The membrane barrier is what makes this possible - it doesn't let effluent quality drift with influent load the way conventional processes can.

This makes it a practical upgrade path for existing plants too. For sites running ASP, MBBR or FAB-based systems that need:
